Nellie's PR Stunt has arrived!!!
I said he needed one since the Defensive Coordinator thing was shite, and now we have it. From Janny Hu at SFGate:

"Three weeks after Nelson called out the 19-year-old for poor practice habits, the coach said he's shelving his rookie for the time being.

'We're going to put him on ice for a while, until the assistant coaches tell me he's ready to play in an NBA game and my captains tell me he's ready," Nelson said. "He's just going to have to grow up.'"

So our "new" distraction is that Don Nelson has attitude issues with his lottery pick bigman (men).

Matt Steinmetz has a fun anecdotal instance he stored up for a time like today, and I had a hearty laugh on this one:

"Rob Kurz caught an elbow from Randolph that broke open Kurz' chin and sent him to the locker room bloodied. It was an elbow that at least one Warrior thought was uncalled-for. Kurz was playing three-on-three with some other low-minute players after the team's official practice had ended. It was Kurz and Randolph and Corey Maggette, Marcus Williams, Anthony Morrow and DeMarcus Nelson. They seemed to be going about 80 percent. During one possession, in which Randolph seemed to be frustrated, he went hard to the basket and caught Kurz under the chin. Kurz immediately left the court and was eventually escorted to the locker room by athletic trainer Tom Abdenour. At the far end of the court, Jackson and some other veterans were watching. After Kurz left the gym, Jackson began shouting at Randolph from the other end of the floor. The message: That wasn't cool."

I think Jackson is wrong on this one. I'll skip over the easy fan-beating and strip club violence jokes here. Jackson and Ric Bucher and David Stern want you to know that we've moved past that now. But Jackson gets it wrong for another reason. That reason:

Seriously, this stupid fucker has no talent and was total shit against Kevin Love, who BLEW by him, and anyone else on the court. Kevin Love is very good. Kevin Love is not very fast. We're running out a 4-year non-draftee against a top 5 lottery talent guy who can't out run anyone in the league besides our 4-year non-draftee. And we're telling ourselves that this somehow makes sense and is defensible the morning after because NELLIE HAS A PROBLEM WITH HIS BIGMAN KID. Only this time, Nellie has the blame spread around a little. He's gotten a little better at the nuts and bolts of the cop out game, I guess. Jackson and the assistant nutmuncherz are all implicated in RandolphGate whether they like it or not. Please, beaters, keep asking Nellie easy set-up questions for his bullshit. It makes for great entertainment. Anyway,

He was destroyed by Minnesota's front, middle, and back lines. He fucking sucks and he looks dumb. Randolph is tough and aggressive and he beat the shit out of Kurz because Kurz was gifted minutes he should be getting (see Lowell Cohn's inevitable Nellie & The D-League bit on The Myth of Done Nelson, exclusively authored by Don Nelson: http://blog.pressdemocrat.com/cohn/2009/01/nellie-and-the-d-league.html). Randolph should have taken his knee out. Here's why...

The Warriors drafted this top 5 talent at 14 because everyone saw the Sean Williams red lights flashing and stayed the fuck away: this kid had a bad rep. Whatever, Nelson is wont to trump up shallow public knowledge bits when it suits his purposes. That's beside the point. The point:

The Warriors either knew what they were getting into or they didn't. They and THEY ALONE are responsible for this mess and Nelson and co. have set Mullin up to be the bigtime fall guy on EVERYTHING. Rowell came out at the beginning of the season and took credit for the high of highs ("I've been here for 6 years") and launched his Mullin ouster. BRILLIANT accompaniment to a major transition year as you failed to keep your supposed franchise player in line over the Summer and overextended a guy who immediately showed why all the bean counting and league salary averages in the world can't explain away moronic extension granting. Harrington out, get a worse guy on a longer deal for more total money in. Etc., it's an easy story to tell. Rowell, Mullin, Riley, Nelson, D'Alessandro, whatever. Fucking chimps from the top down.

So the Randolph morsel is just the latest installment of drama for the tradewinds and the pundits, all to divert attention from the fact of the matter:

Don Nelson is fucking done and so are the Warriors.
